Creating Theatre: A Practical Exploration
Conducted by Bernie ByrnesCreating Theatre: A Practical Exploration of Plot, Character, Genre, and Text. This workshop will be conducted by Bernie Byrnes. An opportunity to create a piece of theatre in just 3 hours - participants will create a short performance under the guidance of Kipper Tie Theatre's professional writer / director Bernie Byrnes and double BAFTA winning composer Jim Fowler, who will offer friendly, helpful and honest feedback on your ideas. Is it ok to sing in a soap opera? Should all baddies wear black hats? Come along and find out. If you have a story to tell we'll help you tell it.

Come understand the various aspects of Physical Theatre. Physical Theatre is used to describe any mode of performance that pursues storytelling or drama through primarily and secondarily physical and mental means. This workshop will focus on Laban movement for actors. Actors will explore physical movement through the various "efforts," and gain an understanding of them and how they can be useful in a scene. This will also result in fine tuning their skills.

An opportunity to dramatise some of the best loved British and Indian stories and poems for children under the benevolent guidance of the Kipper Tie Theatre team. Award winning children's theatre makers Bernie Byrnes and Jim Fowler will share their experience of what makes the story right for 2 - 5 year olds, 6 - 9 year olds and 10+ in British Touring Theatre.

Forum Theatre Conducted by Bernie Byrnes Forum Theatre (Boal)- A Practical Exploration This workshop will be conducted by Bernie Byrnes. Forum Theatre is often used as a method of working with troubled teenagers or those with mental health issues in the UK. Drawing on her work in schools, young offenders institutes and prisons, Bernie Byrnes offers an example of how Boal's notions of Forum Theatre can be used in Drama Therapy, Conflict Resolution and Personal Development. This workshop will focus specifically on aspects of feeling 'foreign'

An opportunity to create your own piece of Absurdist theatre in just 3 hours under the guidance of Kipper Tie Theatre's professional writer / director Bernie Byrnes and double BAFTA winning composer Jim Fowler. This term can be applied to a wide range of plays: broad comedy, often similar to Vaudeville, mixed with horrific or tragic images; characters caught in hopeless situations forced to do repetitive or meaningless actions; dialogue full of clichés, wordplay, and nonsense; plots that are cyclical or absurdly expansive; either a parody or dismissal of realism - this workshop will suit anyone living in the 21st century.
